An Iowa man was arrested on a warrant stemming from a 2023 incident where he allegedly was found in possession of a stolen gun.

Iowa City Police recovered a stolen Taurus handgun on December 19th inside of a bag with the belongings of 28-year-old Rayshon Rushing.  He was interviewed and denied knowledge of the handgun.

A witness reportedly said Rushing had possession of the firearm, and a DNA test showed a match between Rushing’s DNA and that located on the handgun.

Rushing has a 2017 felony conviction for possession of a firearm as a felon from Polk County.  He was charged with a second offense as well as trafficking in stolen weapons. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
