A Tiffin man was charged with OWI last week after returning to the scene of an incident despite being told not to by police.

On October 15th, police say 21-year-old Mason Franklin was heavily intoxicated when he was involved in the altercation on West State Street in Oxford. He was given a ride home by deputies and told not to drive again.  A few hours later, just before 6am, a deputy allegedly observed him returning to the scene in a Chevy pickup and was pulled over. Franklin reportedly had multiple signs of intoxication including bloodshot watery eyes, dilated pupils, slurred speech and a strong odor of ingested alcohol.

After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, he provided a breath sample showing his alcohol level over the legal limit to drive. A urine specimen was also collected.

Franklin was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor. He posted bond the next day and is awaiting further court dates.
