An Iowa City man was arrested Saturday after an alleged assault against a person who has a valid no-contact order against him.
20-year-old Joshua Hurtado of South Governor Street was allegedly observed with the subject at his residence, despite a no-contact order that went into effect on August 26th. Hurtado was reportedly speaking to the victim, who stated that he dragged them by the hair across the ground in front of the apartment. An officer on scene reportedly observed missing hair from the victim.
Hurtado was arrested and charged with Assault Committed by a Person against subject of No Contact Order, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
He is due to be arraigned today on charges of marijuana possession and failure to affix drug stamp from an incident that allegedly occurred on the same day the no-contact order was issued.
