Cedar Rapids man charged with forging checks from local landscaping company

A Cedar Rapids man has been charged after allegedly cashing two forged payroll checks from a local landscaping company.

According to the criminal complaint, 59-year-old Clinton Wright of 3rd Avenue SE went to Solon State Bank on the morning of September 27th and cashed two fraudulent payroll checks that were made out to him from Carew Landscaping in the amounts of $4894.75 for a total of $9789.50.

Police say the checks were fraudulently created and without the knowledge or consent of Carew Landscaping.

Wright has been charged with Forgery, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
