A homeless woman has been arrested in connection with an Iowa City stabbing case.

Iowa City Police say 44-year-old Kelli Rehwinkel chased and attacked a victim with a knife on the 300 block of McCollister Boulevard just before 4:45 Friday afternoon. The man was stabbed in the stomach and right side. He was suffering from an open wound to his stomach when he was found by police.

Rehwinkel allegedly chased a second person while wielding the knife, but they were able to escape.

Rehwinkel is charged with Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Assault While Displaying a Weapon and Going Armed With Intent. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 12 years in prison.

Rehwinkel was accused of pulling a knife on another person at Shelter House last February, but an Assault While Displaying a Weapon  charge as later dropped. Last month she knocked another Shelter House guest unconscious during a physical altercation, leading to a 12-day jail sentence.
