A Cedar Rapids man was arrested after it was alleged he stole items from an acquaintance while they were out of town.

According to the police report, 58-year-old Steven Peacock knew that the victim was on vacation out of state. He allegedly entered the victim’s Iowa City home while no one was home and stole several items.

The victim discovered vases, shoes, a TV and stereo were missing. The vases alone were worth an estimated $3000.

When confronted, Peacock reportedly admitted to entering the home and taking the items.  He allegedly told police that he was in the wrong and “messed up.”

Peacock was charged with 3rd degree Burglary and 5th degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to over five years in prison.
