An Illinois man has been charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into a residence while drunk early Saturday.

Police say at approximately 4:30am, 21-year-old Blaine Gibbons of Rockford ripped the screen of a door on the 200 block of East Bloomington Street and forced entry into the home.  Once inside, he was confronted by a resident. Gibbons allegedly grabbed the victim by the forearms, resulting in bruising

Gibbons was reportedly heavily intoxicated at the time, as evidenced by his poor balance, bloodshot watery eyes, and nonsensical speech.  He refused a PBT.

Gibbons could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison if convicted on a first-degree Burglary charge; the Public Intoxication charge comes with a maximum 30 day sentence.
