An area transient was arrested Saturday after an alleged assault on his girlfriend of approximately 14 months.
At around 11am, an officer was flagged down by a female who claimed that her boyfriend was following her. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she alleged that 25-year-old Gabriel Baylor had assaulted her earlier that morning.
According to the woman, Baylor grabbed her by her upper arms during an argument, causing bruising. He also reportedly twisted her fingers, leaving her left middle finger bruised, swollen, and possibly broken.
A check of criminal records showed Baylor had been convicted of Domestic Assault this past July.
He was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault 2nd offense, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
