An Iowa City man faces an invasion of privacy charge after allegedly recording an intimate encounter with a woman without her permission.

On September 6th of this year, the woman reported to police her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old William Gleason of Ridgeland Avenue, admitted to her that he had taken pictures and recorded video of her while they were being intimate.

Text messages supplied to police by the victim from Gleason reportedly stated that he had deleted all photos and videos he had taken of her. He also acknowledged that she specifically told him never to do such an act.

Gleason’s phone was seized on September 18th using a search warrant. He allegedly admitted again to taking photos of the victim while she was nude or in a state of undress.

Investigators reviewed the data from Gleason’s phone on October 4th and reportedly found the messages he sent to the woman admitting his actions.

Gleason was charged with Invasion of Privacy, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a maximum two years in jail if convicted. A no-contact order was requested.
