Jan Jensen has landed her first commitment since becoming the University of Iowa women’s basketball coach.
Layla Hays of Wasilla, Alaska announced her commitment to the Hawkeyes during her official visit to Iowa City on Saturday. Hays is a four-star center who averaged 16.2 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots per game in leading Wasilla to the Alaska Class 4A state championship. She’s the #2 ranked center in the class of 2025 and is ranked as the #68 player overall by ESPN.
The 6’5” Hays chose Iowa over Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Washington, Duke, North Carolina and Gonzaga.
