Fire damaged a garage in Iowa City Friday afternoon.
According to a news release from the Iowa City Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 4:14 p.m. for a report of a garage on fire at 859 Longfellow Court. The first crew arrived at 4:19 p.m. and encountered smoke coming from the front door of the home.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire ten minutes after arriving on scene. Fire damage was limited to the garage and there was extensive smoke damage throughout the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Marshal.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. Two occupants displaced by the fire are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
