A wanted sex offender has been captured after an incident at a downtown Iowa City bar.
Iowa City Police were called to a trespassing report at Quinton’s on East Washington Street just after 10:00 Monday night. The suspect, 25-year-old Nathan Riley Fisher of Davis Street, was found nearby at the intersection of Washington and Dubuque Streets. Police say he was holding an unopened alcoholic beverage, showed signs of intoxication, gave a fake name and date of birth, and claimed he was “not drunk enough”. Riley Fisher was arrested for Public Intoxication and Providing False Identity Information. An Interference With Official Acts charge was added when he reportedly refused to get into the patrol car.
Investigators learned Riley Fisher’s true identify by finding his social security card in his wallet. He was wanted for Sex Offender Registry violations after allegedly giving police two fake addresses. One was a house where the resident has a no-contact order against him. The homeowner at the other listed address claims Riley Fisher hasn’t lived there in months.
Riley Fisher is also accused of no-contact order violations. On September 14th he and the protected party allegedly stayed in a room together at the Super 7 Motel on Hayden Fry Way in Coralville. The next day a police officer encountered the two after a reported fight at Panera Bread at the Iowa City Marketplace. Police say Riley Fisher gave his real name, but the woman gave a fake name to avoid Riley Fisher being charged with violating the no-contact order.
If convicted on all charges against him, including a Domestic Abuse charge from an incident on September 4th, Riley Fisher faces a maximum of over nine years in prison.
