University of Iowa experienced internet outage most of Sunday

A widespread information technology outage Sunday took down internet access across the University of Iowa and multiple campus IT systems.

The ITS website first posted the outage at 9:26am, saying they were aware of a problem affecting several systems across campus. The announcement said teams from the Healthcare Information Systems and ITS was working to restore the services.

An update just before 2pm said the issue was particularly affecting off-campus users, and no time of restoration was provided.

The internet was restored at around 5:30pm.

The Daily Iowan reports  according to previous IT alerts sent out to staff, planned server maintenance is scheduled for today, tomorrow, and Sunday which might temporarily impact network connectivity.

At around 9pm, the UI posted on X that faculty, staff and students were to report to work and classes as usual today. The cause of the outage has not been announced.
