An Iowa City woman was arrested after an investigation determined that she withdrew money from a victim’s account without permission.
On the morning of August 5th, 34-year-old Rena Rocqumore of the Town and Campus Apartments on Arthur Street allegedly withdrew $500 from the victim’s account using their debit card in two separate transactions.
Rocqumore had no right or permission to withdraw the money. The victim demanded she return the money, but Rocqumore refused. She was identified by the victim and video surveillance from the ATM site.
When interviewed by police, Rocqumore reportedly admitted to taking the money, but said she was told to do so.
A warrant was issued September 11th; she was booked at the Johnson County Jail on September 30th and faces up to a year in jail if convicted on a 4th degree Theft charge. She was released on her own recognizance the next day ahead of future court dates.
