An Indiana man led Johnson County deputies on a brief chase near Lone Tree earlier this week.

Arrest records indicate officers were called to the Lone Tree Casey’s on Devoe Street just before 5:00 Thursday night for a shoplifter. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Michael Neuenschwander of Kendallville, Indiana, allegedly stole a phone charger and two bags of ice.

Deputies confronted Neuenschwander as he was sitting in his truck outside the store. He allegedly drove off despite being told he was not free to go.

A brief police chase ensued, with Washington County deputies being called in to assist. The pursuit ended when Neuenschwander pulled over near the intersection of Wapsi Avenue and 580th Street.

Neuenschwander is charged with Eluding, Interference With Official Acts, and 5th Degree Theft. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
