The bicyclist hit by a driver on Rohret Road earlier this month has died.

A news release from the City of Iowa City indicates 41-year-old Ashlee Hopkins died on Monday, shortly after she was taken off life support. Her family says her liver will be donated for use in a transplant.

Officers were called to the 3300 block of Rohret Road just after 4:00 on the afternoon of September 15th after Hopkins was struck by a vehicle while on the Iowa City Bike Library’s Farm Cycle Ride.

The incident remains under investigation and no further information has been released.

Hopkins’ obituary says she had been a development director for both the Domestic Violence Intervention Program and more recently with the Bur Oak Land Trust. She also volunteered with the Englert Theatre, the Iowa City Bike Library, Girls on the Run, United Action for Youth, and Rotary.
