The woman who was seriously injured in a bicycle-auto accident earlier this month is set to be taken off life support today.

Officers were called to the 3300 block of Rohret Road just after 4pm September 15th on reports of a personal injury accident.  The bicyclist, now identified as Ashlee Hopkins,  was hospitalized with serious injuries. Iowa City’s Bike Library said the accident happened during their Farm Cycle Ride.

According to a GoFundMe post, teams at University of Iowa Health Care did all that they could to pull Hopkins through, but her injuries were too severe. She is due to be taken off of life support today, and will donate her liver.

Funds are being raised to help cover funeral and other end-of-life expenses. The Ashlee Hopkins Memorial Fund has already raised over $26,000.

Services will be scheduled for later this week.
