An Iowa City woman was charged with theft and forgery from two separate incidents earlier this year.

41-year-old Saroya Mally of Benton Drive allegedly cashed a forged check at the Iowa City WalMart for $200 on May 24th. She reportedly returned on July 19th and cashed another forged check from the same victim for another $200.  Both checks were written paid to the order of Mally.

She was interviewed and allegedly admitted to dumpster diving around the time the checks were discarded by the victim in a neighboring dumpster.  A second suspect reportedly admitted to seeing Mally write the forged check.

Mally could be sentenced to six years in prison if convicted on 4th degree Theft and Forgery charges.
