A North Liberty woman was charged with Harassment after an incident at North Central Elementary School.

Last Friday, 42-year-old Melody Peer went to the school and reportedly confronted school staff about an issue involving her daughter and another student.  She allegedly became belligerent towards the principal, yelling and causing a scene.

Peer was escorted out by the principal and reportedly  continued to yell, scream and use racial epithets against them. She then allegedly threatened to kill him.

Peer left the grounds before police arrived.  The school went into their safety protocols based on the threats in order to keep students and staff safe.  The principal requested charges be filed.

A warrant was issued the same day, and Peer was charged with 1st degree Harassment. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.

A no-contact order preventing her from coming on school grounds was issued by Judge Jason Burns Wednesday.
