A suspect in a New Year’s Eve riot on the Ped Mall has been given a deferred judgment.
Court records show 19-year-old Taylor Robinson of Southview Drive NW reached a plea deal earlier this month. Iowa City Police say Robinson, 23-year-old Eugina Mishark of Ames, and 21-year-old Demarcus Robertson-Ray of Cedar Rapids willingly involved themselves in a large fight with at least four other people outside DC’s on South Dubuque Street just after 11:45 on the night of December 31st. Multiple people were injured…some requiring hospitalization.
Robertson-Ray pleaded guilty to two counts of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury earlier this year and was given two five-year prison sentences. Mishark was given a deferred judgement last month.
On Thursday, Judge Deborah Minot gave Robinson a deferred judgement and one year of probation on a reduced charge of Unlawful Assembly.
