UI Police issue warning about juveniles groping victims, attempting thefts after asking for hugs

University of Iowa Police are issuing a warning about juveniles groping pedestrians and trying to steal from them.

According to a post on the UI Campus Safety website, university officials have received multiple reports of fondling on campus. In the reported incidents, juveniles are asking for hugs, grabbing people’s buttocks, and attempting to take items from them. The incidents reported thus far occurred in an east side residence hall on Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

The UI Police Department says it is investigating the incidents, has identified the individuals involved, and is taking additional steps to protect the campus community. Anyone who witnesses or experiences such behavior on campus is encouraged to immediately call UIPD by dialing 9-1-1, or 319-335-5022.
