The Iowa City Community School District received violent threats from an anonymous Snapchat user Wednesday.
The District did not identify the school to which the threats were directed. Superintendent Matt Degner, in an email to parents, said law enforcement determined the threats were not credible and seemed to come from outside the state. The district is continuing to work with law enforcement to investigate the threat. Degner reiterated that the District takes all potential threats very seriously.
Other districts have also reportedly received similar threats. The Iowa City Community School District received a similar threat in April against City High, but that threat was also deemed as not credible.
