West Liberty Police are investigating a gun-related death.
According to a news release from the department, just before 11:45 Thursday night first responders were dispatched to an unresponsive female. The female was later declared deceased with a single gunshot wound listed as the cause of death. The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
The City of West Liberty has requested the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation to assist with the inquiry, which remains on-going.
The death is being considered an isolated incident and there is believed to be no threat to the public.
