The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has recovered a motorcycle stolen out of Wisconsin and arrested a suspect from Colorado.
Arrest records indicate the Iowa State Patrol pulled over a blue 2006 Yamaha being driven by 32-year-old German Chesnokov of Thornton, Colorado Friday afternoon on westbound Interstate 80 in Cedar County. It wasn’t until Chesnokov was released that the trooper learned the motorcycle was reported stolen out of Milwaukee.
A Johnson County deputy spotted the vehicle pulling into the Tiffin I-80 rest area just before 2:15pm. Chesnokov was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
