A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested after police say he had marijuana mailed to an Iowa City address.
27-year-old Eathan Royal John McMahon of Grande Avenue SE was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5:15 Thursday night. According to arrest records, a package set to be delivered to 182 East Prentiss Street smelled of marijuana, leading to an investigation. Inside the package were allegedly several bags containing almost ten kilos of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

The package was delivered to the address while under police observation. Investigators say just before 3:30 Thursday afternoon they saw McMahon take the package, place it into a 2008 Subaru, and drive off. The vehicle was pulled over by Coralville Police on northbound Highway 218 near the Melrose Avenue exit. The package was still inside.

McMahon is charged with a Controlled Substance Violation, a Drug Tax Stamp Violation, and Keeping Premises for the Use of Controlled Substances. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum  of 12 years in prison.
