A transient barred from boarding an Iowa City Transit bus after he refused to wear a shirt has been arrested after allegedly threatening the driver with a knife.
Iowa City Police say the bus was at a stop on Boyrum Street just before 7:00 Friday morning when the driver told 50-year-old Cainnon Fox he could not get on without first putting on a shirt. Fox reportedly stepped off the bus, pulled out a knife and started walking back toward the door. The driver shut the door and drove off before Fox could re-board.
Arriving police found Fox still at the scene, allegedly drinking an alcoholic beverage. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication, and his breath alcohol level was measured at .17%.
Fox allegedly resisted arrest, leading to one officer sustaining scrapes to their hand.
Fox is charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Interference With Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over three years in jail.
