A Cedar Rapids woman who was involved in a single vehicle accident and was rendered unconscious has been charged with OWI.

Police say 21-year-old Alize Hartison of C Avenue NW was operating a Nissan Sentra at around 4am near the intersection of Muscatine and 2nd Avenues when she failed to negotiate the curve, left the road and hit a parked vehicle.

An investigation determined that the sole cause of the crash was Hartison’s inability to keep her vehicle under control.

The crash rendered her unconscious, and she was taken to the ER for treatment. A blood specimen was collected and her blood-alcohol level was registered at .142 percent.

A warrant was issued July 16th; Hartison was charged with OWI and Failure to Maintain Control on Monday. She faces up to a year in jail if convicted.
