An Iowa City man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a woman’s apartment and threating to kill her, despite a no-contact order being in effect.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 3am August 18th. The woman came home to her North Liberty residence only to see 39-year-old Dustin Snyder of Diana Court, who had broken in. He reportedly left the residence with about $200 of her property. Snyder also allegedly damaged a window, a TV stand, and several items of food. The woman attempted to get Snyder to leave without success.
The stolen property was later recovered outside the residence.
The next day, Snyder allegedly gave his brother a handwritten note, his wedding ring, and another document and told him to deliver it to the woman. A valid no-contact order was still in effect between the two individuals.
Snyder was arrested Wednesday and charged with 2nd degree Burglary, 1st degree harassment, criminal mischief, and two violations of the no-contact order. He could be sentenced to over 12 years in prison if convicted on all counts. .
