Johnson County Sheriff’s Office identifies Pleasant Valley Golf Course drowning victim

Authorities have identified the victim who drowned in a pond at Pleasant Valley Golf Course just south of Iowa City.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says a 9-1-1 caller reported the drowning at 1:39 Wednesday afternoon. First responders arrived on the scene a short time later and learned the victim, now identified as 38-year-old Christopher Plowman of Tiffin, was fully submerged in a pond inside the Sand Road course. Plowman was trapped under maintenance equipment and had been there for an unknown amount of time. He was recovered from the water and declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

The incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
