An Iowa City man with a history of domestic abuse assaults involving the woman who bore his seven children has been charged with the crime again.
Offiers were called to a residence on Carroll Street Sunday just after 12:45am on reports of a fight in progress. The victim stated that 28-year-old Deondre Davis of Broadway Street had punched her in the face twice and choked her. She also stated that Davis used both hands to choke her, pushed her on the couch and punched her in the face again. Officers observed a slight discoloration around her left eye.
A check of Davis’ criminal records showed four previous domestic assault convictions going as far back as 2016.
Davis was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd or subsequent offense and Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow. He faces a prison sentence of up to ten years if convicted.
Davis was also charged with a probation violation; a revocation hearing was scheduled for September 19th.
