A Coralville woman was arrested during the lunch hour Thursday after allegedly causing a disturbance at a restaurant and assaulting an arresting officer.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Corridor Way for a report of a Door Dash driver screaming at staff and hitting customers. Upon arrival, contact was made with 18 year old Paris Cooper of 5th Street. She was reportedly yelling at bar patrons and staff, and was asked to leave the bar and have a seat. She allegedly refused to listen to officer commands, was detained and escorted to a squad car.

Police say Cooper resisted officers as they attempted to secure handcuffs on her, and kicked an officer. She also allegedly made multiple statements about spitting on officers, and claimed that once the handcuffs were off of her she would beat the officers’ ass.

Cooper was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on both counts, she could face a jail sentence of up to 13 months.  A No-Contact order was requested.
