A Coralville eye care company is closing its doors after almost 40 years in business.

Looking Glass Optical will be closing its longtime Lantern Park Plaza location by the end of the month. Owner Mitch Thompson told KCRG TV-9 the plaza’s owners have decided not to renew his lease as they plan to redevelop the property. Thompson told the television station he looked at moving to another location, but the available options were too expensive.

Looking Glass Optical first opened on 5th Street in 1987 before moving to Lantern Park Plaza in 1990. The business has prided itself on being a Medicaid provider since the day it opened.
