An Iowa City man with a history of petty thefts and minor drug charges was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly being observed riding a stolen bike downtown.

Police located 31-year-old Joshua Odeen of South Governor Street riding a bike with no lights on at 12:30am, heading eastbound on Benton Street as he crossed Clinton Street.  The bike reportedly had been reported stolen to University of Iowa Police.

Odeen was detained, and a post-arrest search allegedly turned up a used glass pipe for smoking methamphetamine in a fanny pack.

He’s been charged with 4th degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia; if convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
