An Iowa City woman was arrested on drug charges after creating a disturbance Friday night in North Liberty.
Police there were called to the Golfview Mobile Home Park at around 9:15 on reports of a female in an intoxicated state standing in the roadway screaming. Several calls were made to police regarding her reported belligerent behavior. Upon arrival, officers encountered 40-year-old Ashley Lyon of Highway 1 West, who allegedly made comments such as “Let’s go,” to engage in a fight.
Lyon reportedly had an odor of ingested alcohol coming from her person, and she had red bloodshot watery eyes. She reportedly stated that she had been consuming alcohol and had two shots. Police say Lyon’s mood and behavior was constantly changing.
She allegedly attempted to walk away from the situation several times despite being told that she was not free to leave. A search of her purse allegedly turned up a quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, a glass pipe, grinder, and THC vape pen.
A review of Lyon’s criminal history found prior drug-related convictions in various other states.
Lyon was arrested, and while being transported to the Johnson County Jail for booking, she slipped out of one of her handcuffs and began kicking the windows. Once at the jail, she allegedly refused to get out of the squad car. Lyon also allegedly kicked at deputies that were trying to pat her down.
She has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, Consumption of Alcohol in a Public Place, Meth possession, Marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on all charges, Lyon could be sentenced to up to 28 months in jail.
