A convicted domestic abuser has been arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of ammunition.

Iowa City Police say they were providing extra patrol at the Iowa City Marketplace on Sycamore Street early Sunday morning when they encountered 60-year-old Curits Seals of Cross Park Avenue just before 2:45 a.m. Seals had an active warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody. A search of his person reportedly turned up a 9mm bullet in his front pants pocket.

Seals is charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm By a Domestic Abuser. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.

Seals, who has multiple previous domestic abuse convictions, was wanted for skipping his arraignment on a 3rd Degree Theft charge last month. Police say Seals was captured on video stealing tequila from a southeast side liquor store in June.
