Suspicious package at Johnson County Courthouse determined to be books

A suspicious package found outside the Johnson County Courthouse was determined to be a pile of books.
According to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, just after 10:00 Wednesday night the county’s Joint Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from an anonymous individual reporting suspicious items had been left outside the Johnson County Courthouse on South Clinton Street. The caller stated the items were destructive and law enforcement needed to retrieve them.
Once law enforcement arrived at the courthouse, suspicious items were located on the exterior of the building. The immediate area was closed off to general traffic for about two hours. The Johnson County Metro Bomb Team responded to the scene and removed the suspicious items which were discovered to be a stack of books.
The incident is being actively investigated by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
