Three of the four people injured in a Friday morning RV rollover near Oxford have been released from the hospital.
That’s according to a post on the Tiffin Fire Department Facebook page, which shows the three meeting with and thanking first responders who helped remove them safely from the vehicle and get them medical attention. A fourth victim remains hospitalized.
According to the official crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, the vehicle was pulling a Jeep on westbound Interstate 80 near the Black Hawk Avenue overpass when it drifted into the north ditch for unknown reasons. The driver over-corrected and hit a guardrail near the bridge, then hit another guardrail before rolling into the median.
Four occupants were taken to the University of Iowa Health Care Campus Medical Center…one requiring transport via AirCare. On Saturday, the State Patrol identified three of those injured as 71-year-old Clarence Brackens, 76-year-old Nora Brackens, and 52-year-old Peggy Hill. All three are from Summerville, South Carolina.
The fourth injured passenger was a 14-year-old whose name has not been released. Clarence Brackens was the injured passenger who required airlifting to the campus medical center. There is still no indication of who was driving the vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation.
