Johnson County Sheriff’s office investigating Lake Macbride drowning

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Wednesday afternoon drowning at Lake Macbride.
The office says in a news release that deputies responded to Lake Macbride Beach just before 1:15 after a 9-1-1 caller reported seeing an individual in the beach area struggling to swim, then disappearing under the water. Emergency services deployed boats to begin a search operation, and the Johnson County Metro Dive Team recovered the victim at 2:55 p.m. The subject was transported by the Johnson County Medical Examiner to the University of Iowa Health Care Campus Medical Center for an autopsy.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending family notifications.
