Suspect accused of throwing rock through North Liberty bank window and trying to start a bush on fire

A suspect is accused of throwing a rock through a window of a North Liberty bank and attempting to start a bush on fire.

North Liberty Police say security video shows 36-year-old Julian Stewart of Heritage Drive enter Hills Bank on Highway 965 at approximately 9:13 Monday morning. He was seen speaking to a teller, then leaving the business.

Footage reportedly shows Stewart then attempting to light a bush on fire outside the bank, as well as throwing a rock through the front door window. Damage is estimated at $1,500.

Stewart was recognized from his previous criminal history. He’s charged with 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in jail.
