The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a robbery at a Lone Tree lemonade stand.

The children running the stand report they were selling lemonade and zucchini bread near Pioneer Road and Devoe Street earlier this month with the goal of raising enough money to attend the Muscatine County Fair and possibly Lost Island Water Park. The mother of one of the girls who was baking the bread said when she went inside to get more, a male and three females stopped by the stand in their vehicle, caused a commotion, and stole the girls’ money and some bread before fleeing. A call to the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center indicates the incident was reported just after 6:45 on the night of July 19th.

No description of the suspects or their vehicle has been made available.

The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with any leads to call them at 319-356-6800.

The girls plan to open the stand again Sunday morning at 10 in the vacant grocery store parking lot at 203 North Devoe Street on the north edge of Lone Tree.
