A Coralville woman was taken into custody after allegedly injuring the father of their child and damaging the man’s windshield.

Police say 27-year-old Mary Cordoba Rodriguez and the man are the parents of the same minor child.  The victim claimed that she threw children’s toys at him and punched him in the chest and face.  Officers reportedly observed visible swelling and bruising under the man’s eye, and he claimed it was one of Rodriguez’ punches that caused the injury.

When interviewed, Rodriguez allegedly admitted to throwing the toys and punching the man, but claimed that he had said some hurtful things to her and that they were actually hitting each other.

Rodriguez also reportedly admitted to throwing a glass bottle at her partner’s vehicle, causing star-break damage across the majority of the front windshield.

Rodriguez faces charges of Domestic Assault causing Injury and Criminal Mischief. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
