A North Liberty man was taken into custody after an incident earlier this year when he allegedly attempted to get a minor to have sex with him.

The 15-year-old victim told authorities that the afternoon of April 13th, 81-year-old Gerald Kuhl of St. Andrews Drive asked her if they were into having sex with him.  Kuhl reportedly told the minor that he could take them to dinner and then back to his house.

Kuhl also allegedly asked the minor if they knew anyone their age who would be interested in having sex with him.  The victim told authorities they felt uncomfortable, scared and violated.

When interviewed, Kuhl denied having the conversation with the victim.

A warrant was issued July 17th; Kuhl was booked on Wednesday and charged with Enticing a Minor for Sexual Purposes, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.

Kuhl was released on his own recognizance pending future court dates; a no-contact order was issued by Judge Jason Burns between Kuhl and the alleged victim.
