An Iowa City woman was arrested after she allegedly threatened to kill her live-in boyfriend.

Just after 10pm Wednesday night, officers responded to the 100 block of South Scott Boulevard on the report of a person yelling “I’m going to kill you.”  The reporting party wasn’t sure where it was coming from, but it caused them fear for their safety.

The reported victim then called in, and said that 26-year-old Zelda Blades was armed with a knife and locked himself in the bathroom. When officers arrived, they allegedly could hear yelling from the residence.

The man stated Blades woke up madhat him and began yelling at him.  He locked himself in one of the bedrooms, but she reportedly kicked the door and damaged it. The man then locked himself in the bathroom and called police.

At one point, Blades threw a chair at the man, leaving a scratch on his upper arm.

The couple had been in a relationship and were living together for the past month.

Blades was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with the use of a Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
