A Hope House resident was arrested this week after it was learned that he had been fired from his job but still continued to sign out as if he was still working.
According to the Department of Corrections complaint, 26-year-old Monte Harris was placed in the facility from prison on May 9th. On July 12th, a urine sample allegedly tested positive for opiates and THC.
Monday, it was discovered that Harris kept a paycheck without approval and against facility rules. The next day, it was learned that Harris was fired from his job on the 12th and continued to sign out as if he was working, making his whereabouts during that time unverified.
Officials came to take Harris into custody Tuesday afternoon for the parole violations, and he reportedly ran out of the facility’s back door, escaping the grounds. After a foot chase pursuit, Harris was apprehended and arrested.
He faces a charge of Escape of Felon and Interference with Official Acts and could be sentenced to over five years in prison if convicted on both counts.
