An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday night after an alleged assault on the mother of his two children.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Broadway Street residence of 45-year-old Lfils Luvoma at around 7:45pm. According to police, he pushed his girlfriend against the wall. She then attempted to get a phone out of Luvoma’s pants pocket, causing him to reportedly strike her several times in the back.
The girlfriend pushed Luvoma away, but in doing so lost her balance and fell onto the couch. Luvoma then allegedly hovered over her with a raised fist as if he was going to strike her again.
This is the second reported incident of domestic abuse involving Luvoma. In November, he pleaded guilty to assault causing injury from an incident in May 2023. He was ordered to pay a fine in that case. He also has a pending charge of Child Endangerment from an incident on March 20th.
Luvoma was charged with 2nd offense Domestic Assault, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a year in jail if convicted. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
