A former Linn-Mar track coach has been sentenced after a 2021 incident where he allegedly performed inappropriate acts on two students.
KCRG TV reports a Linn County Judge sentenced Kameron Beets to 14 years in prison Tuesday.
Beets entered an Alford plea in May to charges including third degree sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation by a school employee. The Alford plea allows subjects to plead guilty without admitting guilt, but acknowledging that there’s enough evidence to convict them.
The two students were told to meet Beets for a physical exam in September 2021 and allegedly performed inappropriate acts on them.
The judge sentenced Beets to 10 years for third degree sexual abuse, two years for sexual exploitation and two years on a charge of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. The judge ordered the sentences to run consecutively.
