Transient arrested after causing disturbance at Town and Campus

An area transient faces drug charges after causing a disturbance at the Town and Campus Apartments on Arthur Street.

Police were called to the complex Friday just before 2am on reports of a disturbance allegedly being caused by 31-year-old Porscha Curry. When told she was under arrest for disorderly conduct, she allegedly began to pull away from officers and flailed her body multiple times. He actions reportedly caused bodily injury to an officer.

A search incident to arrest allegedly found Curry in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

In addition to the disorderly conduct charge, Curry was charged with Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury, Marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  She could be sentenced to over two years in jail if convicted on all counts.

Arrest records show Curry also charged with 3rd degree Theft after allegedly attempting to shoplift from the CVS store on Muscatine Avenue around 8pm Saturday.  She left the store without paying for nearly $115 in items before her arrest. Due to previous incidents at the store, Curry was also given a trespass citation.
