At 8:41 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2024, Iowa City Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of Wylde Green Road for a report of an armed suicidal subject. During the incident, an Iowa City Police Officer discharged their firearm. One subject was wounded and is currently hospitalized.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has been notified and will investigate the incident. The DCI’s findings will be reviewed by the Johnson County Attorney’s Office. The officer will remain on paid administrative leave during the duration of the investigation.
No other information will be released until the investigation has been completed.
