Iowa City man arrested after reported series of UIHC assaults

An Iowa City man was charged with assault after three alleged attacks while being treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

According to police, 19-year-old Joshua Logan of the Ability United Group Home on Plainview Drive was at the facility on April 24th around 5pm when he allegedly hit a health care provider several times and pulled them down to the ground by the hair.  Logan also kicked the provider multiple times.  The victim suffered several cuts, broken fingernails, and bruising.

Logan was reportedly back at the hospital on May 29th when he attempted to punch an employee. The employee blocked the punch and was struck on the left wrist.

Logan’s most recent alleged assault occurred on June 12th around noon, when he reportedly struck another victim in the face, once in the nose and once in the right eye. The victim’s eye became red and watery as a result.

Logan has been charged with two counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations causing Injury and another count of simple assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. He could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted on all charges.
