An Iowa City woman was arrested after allegedly selling a stolen cellphone and using a card stolen during the same incident at a local convenience store.

Police say 38-year-old Bridget Dual of Sycamore Street used the card, which had allegedly been stolen during a residential burglary committed earlier that day, twice at the Casey’s on Highway 965 on April 4th during the 5am hour, spending over $35. Later that morning, Dual went to SmartphonesPlus in Coralville at around 11:15 and sold an IPhone 14 pro that allegedly had been stolen during the same  burglary.  She received $451 for the device, which is valued at $999.99.

Dual also attempted to use the stolen card at Walmart and at an online store for a total of nearly $660, but was unsuccessful.

When interviewed about the phone, Dual reportedly admitting selling it but denied knowing it was stolen.

A warrant was issued on June 17th; Dual was taken into custody Sunday. She faces charges of 3rd degree Theft and Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to four years in jail.
